Hoops for Heart
Congratulations to sixth grade student Madison Holtzclaw, this year's top fundraiser for Hoops for Heart. Hoops for Heart is an annual event that benefits the American Heart Association. Top earners this year enjoyed an extended lunch period in the gym, a pizza party and some fun and games. As the top earner for our school, Madison will be entered in a drawing to win a trip to Disney.
PASS Testing Schedule
The Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (PASS) will be administered on May 8 through May 11. On Tuesday, May 8 all students will take the ELA test. On Wednesday, May 9 all students will take the mathematics test. On Thursday, seventh grade students will take the science test and grades six and eight will take either the science or social studies test. On Friday, May 11 all seventh grade students will take the social studies test.
PASS Testing Reminders
Please make sure your children are in attendance during the testing periods. Also make sure that your child gets plenty of sleep, eats a good breakfast, and is on time each day. Please avoid making doctor appointments and scheduling other out-of-school functions during these testing mornings. Also, students may not possess electronic devices (such as cell phones) during testing. These must be turned off and placed in their backpacks. Their backpacks are placed in the front or back of the classroom. Testing will start promptly at 8:15 each morning. These tests are very important for our students and for our school. Thank you for all your help and support in encouraging our students to do their best!
Volunteers Needed for PASS Testing
We need volunteers to help monitor the PASS tests in May, during the week of May 8 through 11. We would love for you to help out on one or all of these mornings. Please call Ms. Kelsey Marcero @ 397-4217 or email Ms. Susan Batson susanbatson123@bellsouth.net Thank you for helping us with this important task!
New Main Office Open
We have moved into our new main office! The decorators still have some work to do, but we're open for business. Visitor parking has not changedl, but you may enter through the attractive new doors in the front of the school.
Edwards Band Earns Gold
The R.C. Edwards Festival Band earned Gold First Place among all middle school, junior high, and Class 1 high schools in the Heritage Music Festival in New York City. The band performed at the historic Riverside Church in Manhattan on Saturday, April 21, and spent the rest of the weekend sightseeing in NYC. Congratulations to the band and to director Daniel Marsh for another outstanding accomplishment.
